Chapter Summaries
CHAPTER 1: CONNECTIONS
Introducing a traumatic moment in Neuma’s life, inadvertently caused by Dray, links these two characters forever. Neuma gains powers from the jungle spirit and becomes the priestess of her people at the age of 13.
CHAPTER 2: CHILDHOOD'S LAST DAY
March 1, 2019
Dray discovers that his parents plan to move to a jungle base set up by their mentor, Sid, up in the sky. Both parents face death at the hands of a powerful madman (Kozlow) who’s slowly taking over the A.I. leadership (Corgo), Before his parents die, they give Dray a special fungus that allows his nervous system to over-ride the programming in their well-ordered society.
CHAPTER 3: THE FALL OF THE
SHADOW GUARDSMAN
Dray is a trusted member of an elite force, The Shadow Guard, working for Kozlow, the man who killed his parents. Dray finds out the person who has the “Sid Chip” the one ingredient he’s missing in order to escape the Urbosphere. In his attempt to escape to the jungle, Dray is caught and falls to the bottom of the world – The Alleyways.

CHAPTER 4: RISE FROM THE ASHES
After a series of violent encounters in the maze of carcasses, bones and debris, Dray is forced to face his betrayer (Coli) who leads the most violent gang of the Alleys. With the help of a virtual Sidney Prakash (from the Sid Chip) Dray escapes by climbing up and bypassing the electrical field that imprisons the Alley. Evading gunfire, assassination attempts by fellow guardsman, and tracking by his enemies, he makes it to the Jungle, injured but alive.
CHAPTER 5: THE INVISIBLE HAND
Dray survives his ordeal and meets Neuma, who helps him back to health. He notices that the jungle spirit called Prak, watches his every move. As he and Neuma get closer, Prak sabotages them. Dray decides he wants to meet Prak. He climbs a tree, which emanates a similar fungus his parents gave him and finds a rotting torso melded with a tree. The jungle god is the real Sid.
CHAPTER 6: THE HOLY AND THE DAMNED
Prak (Sid) tells Dray his story, and the truth. The story is interrupted by Corgo forces lead by Kozlow invading the jungle. Dray joins Neuma in futile fight against sky tanks. Prak joins in and tips the odds in their favor.
